Independent Living A Delight or A Chore-min

Our stress-free approach to at-home care

All the help and support you need, to make living at home a delight, not a chore!

We’re all very different.

However, one thing in common for all those needing help to remain living at home is wanting to be in control of the services that are provided.

You should have a family member, friend and, or, a single, professional point of contact that’s able to discuss your needs?

You should have advice concerning the statutory funding that you may be entitled to, such as receiving an attendance allowance, or direct payments for your care.

You should be able to meet and get to know your carers and support workers before they do any work for you.

Ideally, you should be able to select the carers of your choice and determine when they visit, what they do, and for how long they are with you.

You should always have the flexibility and choice of the times, so you could change your routine that suits you.

Flexibility to ‘top up’ payments for extra hours, for things such as being accompanied on a day out, or, having a favourite meal cooked to your liking.

You should, on a day-to-day basis, get the jobs done around the house as part of a routine visit, such as doing the washing up, light cleaning or doing some clothes washing.

You should write a list of all the things that you would like to happen!

We understand that what you may need today, could be very different in a few months, or years’ time. Extra help. Respite.

Today you may need some practical help: changing lightbulbs, gardening, bed-making and cleaning, shopping, cooking, washing and ironing, and later on care. You might not be getting what you what from your current care providers?

Friends Helping at Home was established by a social entrepreneur, who wanted a high-quality service to a standard that he would want for his family – and created a practicable response for those who also wanted a safe, quality, personable service at an affordable price.
