Looking back on Friends Helping at Homecare during the coronavirus pandemic

It’s an understatement to say that this has been a notable year for everyone.

I say notable because I don’t think that there are suitable adjectives to describe 2020.

Although egregious has frequently come to mind when we have faced challenges that we have successfully overcome.

Reflecting on the year’s end with colleagues, we can take a lot of positives looking at the achievements and feedback.

There seem to be three reoccurring themes that define our performance consistently throughout. Our customers and carers alike describe us as flexible, dependable and sustainable.

Flexible

Bringing our meetings online at first seemed like a chore. New technology, upgrading wifi and being webcam ready were not things any of us relished. However, what we created was a weekly space to come together, to share, to chat and ultimately bring our family together in a way that never would have happened if it wasn’t for the events of this year. Our flexibility in adapting to these demands, be they technological or physical have shaped new skills and new confidence in ourselves.

Dependable

Our team of care professionals have taken extra care and been able to look after every customer throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, our care professionals have gone above and beyond, providing many extra services such as shopping, household chores which have included unblocking drains when various trades were left with no choice but to withdraw services in the early stages of uncertainty in March.

Sustainable

Our business model has proved robust and we have continued to develop and grow the business. Each branch is sharing more love in the community than ever. We have added to the family in so many ways.

“We are all looking forward to a better future together and wish all our customers and care professionals a very happy 2021.”
