New Year, New Opportunities

Written by Charlie Richardson, Network Development Lead at Friends Helping at Home.

It’s January! What better time to start looking for a new job?

At Friends Helping at Home, we’re kicking off the year with lots of exciting new opportunities. As our Network Development Lead, I’m delighted to share what it means to be part of our rapidly growing network – and how you could get involved.

We’re always on the lookout for passionate, reliable self-employed service providers to join the Friends Helping at Home network.

Where can I work with Friends Helping at Home?

We currently have branches across Devon, Somerset, Wales, and most recently Merseyside, with service providers supporting clients throughout these areas.

We’re growing quickly, so even if we’re not in your area just yet, we’d still love to hear from you – we could be coming to your location very soon!

What does it mean to be a self-employed service provider in our network?

As a self-employed service provider with Friends Helping at Home, you’ll have access to a wide range of wonderful clients in your local area. While you work for yourself, you’re never on your own – you’ll be part of a supportive, like-minded community.

Our network offers:

  • Group chats with fellow service providers
  • Monthly coffee catch-ups to meet in person
  • Ongoing support from the office team

Being self-employed also means you have full control over:

  • The clients you work with
  • Your working hours
  • Your rates of pay

We’re happy to support you in negotiating the right rate to suit your skills and experience.

What do I need to register with Friends Helping at Home?

When you register with us, we’ll ask for a few key documents to ensure the safety of both you and our clients. These include:

  • An Enhanced DBS
  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Any relevant training certificates

We’ll also check that you’re set up and ready to work as self-employed. If any of this is new to you, our friendly registration team can guide you through the process, offering clear signposting and helpful information every step of the way.

Been in a managerial role and looking for your next step?

We also offer franchise opportunities across the UK. If you’ve ever dreamed of running your own business but weren’t sure where to start, we’d love to talk.

Alongside supporting service providers, we offer a strong and collaborative network for our franchisees — helping them grow successful businesses in the fast-growing adult social care sector.

If any of this has sparked your interest or sounds like the right next step for you, I’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re looking to work flexibly as a self-employed service provider or exploring the possibility of running your own franchise, Friends Helping at Home could be the perfect fit. Feel free to get in touch to find out more or have an informal chat about the opportunities available.
