Friends Helping at Home North Somerset opened its doors two years ago, followed by the launch of the South Wales Branch a year later – an exciting step that took the Friends family beyond Devon for the very first time.
Led by Emily Merry, with the support of Chloe Perry (Director of the Teignbridge Branch), both branches have quickly become a trusted part of their local communities. Chloe remains a silent director, offering guidance and encouragement behind the scenes as Emily leads the day-to-day running of both areas.
From Weston-super-Mare to Cardiff and beyond, the North Somerset and South Wales teams are proud to provide reliable, compassionate, and person-centred care – helping people stay independent and comfortable in their own homes.

Emily launched the South Wales Branch of Friends Helping at Home after four years of dedicated work within the Friends family. She began her journey as the Teignbridge Branch Assistant, progressing to Branch Manager, then taking on a key role at Head Office before opening her own branch. Her experience across all areas of the organisation has given her a deep understanding of what outstanding care looks like, for both clients and service providers.
Coming from a family of NHS workers, Emily has always been driven by a passion for helping others. Having also experienced the challenges of arranging at-home care for loved ones, she brings empathy, understanding, and a personal touch to everything she does.
Emily says, “It’s such a privilege to be part of a community that truly values people, to see the difference we can make every single day is what keeps me motivated.”
Under Emily’s leadership, Friends Helping at Home South Wales continues to grow, supporting a community built on reliability, respect, and genuine care.
