Introducing Steph Schelze Plymouth Branch Assistant-min

Introducing our latest care at-home star in Plymouth

We sat down with Steph Schelze, our new Branch Assistant, to help deliver outstanding care at home in Plymouth.

Steph writes: “I’ve been with Friends Helping at Home for four weeks and I can honestly say it’s been AMAZING!

It feels like I’ve known everyone from the Plymouth branch and the Friends Helping at Home head office for years – they’re all so genuinely kind and supportive.

Having worked in the community myself as a professional caregiver, it really was an eye-opener how care companies and the care industry do things.

Friends Helping at Home works in such a different way that feels like care truly is at the heart of everything we do.

It’s a fast-paced role, too, as Branch Assistant of the Plymouth branch, and I can’t wait to see where else my career with Friends Helping at Home will go.”

Plymouth Branch Manager, Jo Craythorne, says Steph is already a great asset, bringing great energy – another star in the making in the Friends Helping at Home family.

Steph is a proud mum of a four-year-old boy, loves going on woodland walks, especially at this time of year as the autumn sets in – “We go exploring, which always gets messy!”.

Steph loves to crochet, which she self-taught when she was pregnant, and makes “worry worms” for children and those who suffer with anxiety, which helps give comfort to have nearby or hold. She has also crocheted premature baby hats for local Plymouth hospitals.

Steph is currently awaiting enrolment into Devon and Cornwall Police as a Special Constable, believing that her passion for policing and care go hand-in-hand – helping others and the community is what motivates and drives her.

Steph also likes to take part in charity work whenever possible, which has included project work with the NSPCC and the media for awareness of child safety.

She’s certainly a ‘team player’, having played football for over twenty years, semi-professional playing for Plymouth Argyle Ladies, and loves LEGO as a more meditative hobby – she’s currently building a 1400+ piece White House and Oval Office!

We’re excited to welcome Steph to the Plymouth branch of Friends Helping at Home, and know she’ll help us to share our mission so everyone receives the care service they deserve.
