Karena Roper launching Exeter and Teignmouth & Dawlish branches
Introducing Karena Roper, Branch Director, Exeter and Teignmouth & Dawlish
We asked Karena to tell us a little about herself: “I have worked in the care sector for many years as a Branch Manager and recently the Operations Director at Bay Care.
I have obtained various levels of diplomas in Health & Social Care including the coveted Registered Managers Care Award. In addition, I have a teaching qualification, a Higher National Diploma in Business & Finance. I am an advocate of continuous improvement and personal development. Currently I’m completing a post graduate level qualification in Strategic Management.
I am passionate about care and feel that my previous roles, owning my own business, working as a branch manager in two branches for a PLC care company and recently as Operations Director for a large local care agency providing care, support and enabling services in Torbay and Devon, stands me in good stead to develop two branches as part of ‘Friends Helping at Home’ in Exeter and Teignmouth & Dawlish in providing solutions for those looking for care and support to remain living in their own home.”
“I continually strive to help others and like to think that my experience and actions enable people to maintain their independence and lead a supported and safe lifestyle in their own home.”
After Karena left Bay Care her family needed to arrange personal care for her elderly and ill mother. Karena looked at the market locally and liked the Friends Helping at Home service that puts the customer in complete control in arranging care. Karena was Karen Breyley’s, the Torbay branch manager, first customer and booked ‘Friends’ to source carers soon after the branch launched in April last year. Karena says, “We liked the way Friends Helping at Home worked; being introduced to professional, qualified carers that we could meet and choose who we wanted to provide care – this something quite valuable and unique. We also saved 25% on care costs.”
Developing New Business in Exeter and Teignmouth & Dawlish
Friends Helping at Home works with NHS discharge and Adult Social Care teams to help customers find the care and support they need to remain or return home. Everything from help shopping, cleaning to companionship and personal care – the occasional hour to live-in 24×7 can be sourced and arranged through the ‘Friends’ network.
Oh, Karena does like to relax with her family, listening to music and enjoying good food, when she makes the time…………
